A new painting 3 Muses In The Garden With Blackbirds

This painting is SOLD
This painting has gone through some rough times. I had sketched it maybe two years ago, but just could not figure out what to do with the background. Yesterday, while working on a big embellished print for a client, I was inspired by Pam Garrison who was inspired by Alisa Burke. Also by Mary Ann Moss and her lovely journal pages too. I guess it takes a village to make a painting sometimes. Suddenly, I knew exactly what to do. I had been doodling on a brown paper tablet with ink and colored pencils (sadly, no big packages have come for me lately wrapped in brown paper) and trying to come up with some new flowers, and there they were. Those pink and white bell flowers are very like Pam's, but I hope she does not mind, I adore them. The muses are in my old style of face, but they did not want to change, so I left them as my original sketch. The original painting is available on etsy.
Edit: Ha! I just realized I had 3 muses for this painting!

Shop Update

I did a new painting today, Coral with Cherries, and reworked a couple of still lifes with the same colors. I am so in love with blue and coral right now, it's not even funny. All listed on etsy,

What I did today

I worked on some paintings. I did a couple more leaf paintings and started another girl painting with flowers and also worked on some ferns. I also painted over several ugly paintings with red, which I find terribly satisfying. I think the old painting's lumpiness helps the new painting be better. See that girl painting, 'In The Garden' in the left hand corner, that's the one I sold a few weeks ago. This one is one I did for myself. It does not quite have the magic of the original, but I can almost forget about how much I miss the original when I look at it. The leaf paintings will be available on etsy. I also did an 18x24 hand embellished print on canvas of that 'In The Garden' painting. It turned out really good, I need to post a picture of that in case someone would like to buy it. I'm sure you are all sick of hearing me whine about selling that painting. :)

I started a sweater for Asher. While we were camping this weekend, Dave took me to Debbie Macomber's yarn store, A Good Yarn in Port Orchard. Gosh it's a neat store. I found a kit for a sweater I want to make Ash, but they were out of his size,( ordered it, they will call me when it comes in) so I bought this Rowan book because I liked this sweater and I already have this yarn. It's that Rowan denim yarn, that fades like denim, and I bought it at least 15 years ago to make a really complicated sweater with about a million cables and after all this time I only have the back done. So I might actually get this one done. I always forget how much I like knitting. A little boy sweater is about as fun as it gets. When it fades a little, it's going to look so good with his blue eyes.

Week 49 - 52 week project 5x7 print I Walk A Tightrope

This was drawn about 2 years ago by my daughter, along with the ballerina from two weeks ago. I imagine she has forgotten about them, but I was happy to run across them and paint them. This one has some minor changes from her drawing. Available for $2 on etsy, here.

I worked on my sampler a lot yesterday, caught up on my squares and also worked on the applique in the middle. I don't know if you all will like what I did with my applique, but I do. I'll show you in a few days.

Week 48 52 week project Botanical Serenade

I really wanted to paint something new this week and save this one for the last week of my project, but it's just not going to happen. This has probably been my most requested print. I will make an 8x10 available when these are gone. It's on etsy here.
Thank you for your support!

Inch 9 A MOP Heart

This is kind of ugly, I sewed the mother of pearl heart button on and then decided to do some couching and seed stitch. I also wanted to show the whole thing again. It could use a bit of ironing, but it is linen after all. I finished the interior grid the other day, and still plan on more applique.

Inch 8: some Bling

So Mondays inch, I moved to the corner of my sampler and stitched down a piece of coffee died lace and a pink crystal button. Hot pink chainstitch around the edge.

Week 47 - 52 week project Hope is a Dancer

I just posted my week 47 print on etsy. It's called Hope Is A Dancer. The original is 8x10 on gallery wrapped canvas and is available for $49 plus shipping.

Inch 7 Daffodils

I chain stitched the interior grid today, and did the daffodil inch shown here. The flowers are on our front porch from Dave and my inspiration today.

Inches 3,4,5

So I've been taking care of sick kids the last few days, but managed to catch up on my inchies today at doctors office. Here are three, four and five. I don't know what that big white hair thing is on the blue flower, probably a big white hair, but that's the only picture I took in the lovely sunshine we had today, so that's what we have, my sweet people.

I'm such a Maverick

So of course I penciled in way too many squares. And I had the wild notion, (get it notion?) to applique a flower and maybe more in the middle and then just do the inchies around the edge with the rest of the grid in chain stitch around what may be more appliqued and embroidered free form flowers. So technically I did not do an inch today, I did a bunch of inches.

Second inch

Baby buttons, baby rickrack, french knots and lazy daisy loops. I'll outline the next box with chain stitch again, I'm thinking.

My first inch

I did my first inch today. I'm not that thrilled with it. It's a little lily of the valley, one of my favorite flowers. I have not had time to figure out my color scheme, so I thought the lily would not clash with just about anything.
