"Endure" Week 37 year long project

These are dark days for me, my friends. I have lost two of my dearest companions for now, and another battles a terrible disease. I am fighting to keep myself strong.

In my thoughts about how to survive this, I remember a card a friend sent, years ago to me during another dark time. It meant a lot to me, and I still have it. I decided to use it's words as this weeks inspiration, because I will have to wait for days of happiness. My world seems to have no color and I strive to remember there could be color again if I wait. I will wait and watch and work. I will keep myself busy and when there is time, I will try to paint beautiful paintings to prove that my heart still beats.

Update on Circa Show Sales

The other day I sold all the whale paintings, and between last night and this morning, I sold Botanical Serenade twice. One of the people who wants it was willing to wait for me to paint a new one. I guess I was right not to paint figures...

Orchids from our kids

Our son and daughter in law sent us these beautiful orchids. They are in NY and can't be here with us right now, so they sent flowers. I'm trying to paint our living room right now, you can see the ladder in the background, so it's nice to have the dining room looking good with pretty flowers. My next project will be the dining room. I'm going to paint the part above the plate rail black. Scary.

Trip To Lopez

The boys, cleaning and cooking
Dave eating like a "FROG"

The pond by the cabin

A little beach we found

Ken and Jeanette. You can see Dave's fork hovering to the left.

Ken is weird. But we like him.

Ken's Shortribs. Jeanette's roasted veggies and brussel sprouts. Pure Heaven

We had a delightful weekend a couple weeks ago on Lopez Island with our friends, Ken and Jeanette. Most of these pics are of the food we made, or us eating. That's what we did. The cabin we rented is called Lopez Island Retreat and I highly recommend it as a getaway.

Sorry about the quality of the photos. We had to hang it late at night, so I was so tired I did not have what it takes to get better ones.

Going To Lopez Island

We are leaving this morning for a little weekend+ getaway with friends to Lopez Island in the San Juans. We'll be back Monday afternoon. I don't think we will have internet there, so I won't be able to post the week 32 print until Monday or Tuesday. To tide you over, here is a picture of my latest painting. It's 30x40" acrylic, called Botanical Serenade.

It's part of a show I will be having at Circa on California Ave in West Seattle. The show will be hung on December 1st and run through the month.

Week 30 Print project and a giveaway

We have some colds in the Fillo house this week, so I am taking the lazy way out and using an older painting as my print for this week, but I redid her face so it feels kosher.

I will not be able to post it to etsy until tomorrow, as I was holding sleeping Asher when I should have been taking pictures while it was still light. I will post better pics tomorrow.
(***Posted to etsy at 2:30 on tuesday.)

The print is called "Despite Advice From What Not To Wear, Hortense Feels Confident In Horizontal Stripes"

I am also going to give away 2 sets of prints this time as I did not do it last month. I just spaced on it, for some reason. Leave a comment here to be entered. Skylar will choose the two winners on Sunday next.I'm also including a short vid of Ash crawling for the family.

XOXO Julie

How He Grows!

Asher is 7 months, and he has been described by several people 'in the know' as a GOER.
He is crawling, can pull himself up on furniture, and last night pulled himself up on my laptop stand and was literally hanging from it by his little fingers. We are in for it, I'm thinking. This picture was taken two weeks ago, before the leaves were soggy.
I'm sorry I have not replied to your comments, my friends, I am losing a dear friend who is in hospice and there is other assorted drama going on, plus two little boys who keep us hopping.
I am a little better about replying on facebook, so if you really want to talk to me, look me up on facebook, Julie Fillo. Or email me at juliefillo@hotmail.com.
XOXO

Week 29 52 Week project Whale on a String Print 5x7

My son, Ryan and his wife, Kim, just spent a week in October seeing fall colors on the east coast. They are currently visiting here in Washington, but they are calling Patterson, NY home right now.

This is a painting requested by Ryan, as he saw all sorts of cool whale folk art in Nantucket and said I needed to paint a whale. Since I am currently obsessed with painting things on strings, this whale is on a string and he does not look so happy. This one's for you, Ry.

Week 28 52 Week project Amanita Mushroom Honeysuckle Girl Print 5x7

Here is my new print for this week. I am showing and offering two views for the print because it was done in my moleskine, so there is the bindery line down the middle of the painting.

Camping on Hood Canal, Duckabush, Quilcene, Dosewallips Rivers

We just went for probably the last camping trip until spring. It rained like crazy, but we still had fun. We drove around looking for photo ops on Saturday, but it was so wet, Dave only took one picture and I took none. The rivers were raging,

It cleared off on Sunday morning, so we went up the Duckabush and found some beauty.

All the little campgrounds are closed, but we found a beautiful little one that we will come back for next spring. We also found a cabin we had not known about. It's called Interrorum cabin and it costs $30 a night. There is no running water, and you have to use an outhouse. It's adorable, though. We saw tons of mushrooms and I got a wildlife shot. The chipmunk- or it might be a squirrel, there is some controversy about this...

Shaggy Mane Mushrooms

unknown mushies

pretty roads everywhere

Dave takes a shot, this was before he hurt his back! Also, I took it through the truck window so it's blurry. I just want to remember when he could still move.

Duckabush River at Collins Campground

The outhouse for the cabin. I must say these are the cutest outhouses I have ever seen, but they still stink inside.

Back porch of the cabin

Interrorum cabin built in 1907 by the first Olympic ranger. Mr Finch, he built it himself and brought his new bride there. Lucky girl.
I felt kind of bad snooping around the cabin, since it was rented, but the people were gone, so I looked in the windows. Yes, I'm like that.
You can see me in the reflection of the window, but that white teapot really got me... inside where I am soft like a woman, and knowing that I won't EVER stay in this cabin

Primitive. Yikes! I like my paid for 1986 fifth wheel better. We can make lattes and it's warm as toast.

Week 27 Year long Print project "Charlie the Circus Horse"

Here is my print for this week, Charlie the Circus Horse.

Dave and I went camping at Dosewallips State park, and got some awesome pictures today. I'll try to post them tomorrow.
